Canons Ashby A rather wet day out!

The entrance for us visitors through that archway - can you see it?!! There was also a swallows nest in there and we watched the birds being fed by mummy - Ill get Simon to appreciate nature yet!! (Hannah)
This is the the side of the House, although the tower in the middle is part of the original priory.
The approach out of the car park to the house, comes out of nowhere!
The Whistling Shepherd Boy

The stunning archway entrance to St Marys, the old priory was on this site.
An unusual church, part of a large priory that was destroyed in the Dissolution.

Above is the tower inside the church, I saw a rope which I imagine was for bellringing.
A coffin
One of the many items in the church in commemoration of the Dryden family, who now own St Marys. Its one of only 4 private parish churches in England.
The curtains were added by a cousin of the family around 1700, I think.

We've been wanting to go here for a good few months now, I'm lucky to work with a few fellow National trust members and were always comparing notes and recommending each other places to go, Canons Ashby was one of those places that kept being mentioned.

So even though the weather wasn't great on Saturday, off me and Hannah went to explore this fantastic house and church.
